Dave Smith is a photographer currently residing in Deep Cove,
North Vancouver. 

II started in journalism aiming to write for Powder and Bike Magazines, but got side-tracked by design and advertising before coming full-circle with a camera in-hand instead of a notebook.

Over time, that foundation in action sports, documenting real people doing real things in challenging environments. naturally bled into other work with clients in the industrial sector; Indigenous groups, construction, and sustainable energy projects.

Over two decades in creative direction means I approach a shoot strategically, but the goal stays simple. Whether it's a rider in the mist or a crew on a remote project site, I photograph what it actually feels like to be there.

That approach has earned a semi-finalist spot in Red Bull Illume and landed work in Bike, Beta, Patagonia, Mountain Life, and Mountain Flyer.
